fards, Swainsboro, Georgia. This cow
went to Robbins Packing Company. at
Statesboro, Georgia where postmortem
examination showed well developed case
of T. B. Inspector Dr. Aurendale of
Statesboro rade the postmortem inspec-
tion.
On July 11, 1952, Dr. Omohundro,
a Pederal {nspector, placed Roy Lee
Smiths s herd at Swaitsboro under quar-
antine because the infected animal came
out of his herd, Test of Smiths entire
therd showed the additional reactor,
animal No. KC-16612, six-year old female
Jersey, which was branded T on left
jaw and sent to Federally-inspected
laughtering establishment No. 332 at
Augusta, Georgia, Dr. W. O. McCormack,
inspector. Postmortem showed well deve-
Moped case of T. B.

veterinarians went to Mr. Smiths farm
to make the test of his herd, it was of
course important to find out if Mr. Smith
had purchased any animals which were
brought to his farm, Mr. Smith stated
that he had purchased some animals from
Mr. L: O. ey near Swainsboro.
MR. LINDSEY'S HERD
On November 10, 1952, Mr. Lindseys
herd was also placed under quarantine
and tested with the result that 86 animals
tested showed :3 reactors... :
MR. SAM WOODS
On November 17, 1952, Mr. Sam
three-year
olds, No. 144 and 145, weighing 830 and
925 pounds respectively, through the
Swainsboro Stock Yards,
Animal No. 144 was purchased by Mr.
Joe McKenzie of Bartow, Georgia, dealer
and broker license No. 339,
Animal No. 145 was purchased by
Shapiro Packing Company at Augusta,
Georgia,* and postmortem examination
on November 19th showed well develop-
ed case of T. B. Inspection made by Dr.
Lemon, Plant Inspector. .
Animal No. 144 was sold by Mr. Mc-
Kenzie through the Wilkes County Stock
Yards at Washington, Georgia to Shapiro
Packing Company of Augusta, Georgia.
Postmortem did not disclose any T. B. in
this animal.
Mr. Woods stated that. animal No.
145 was purchased by him from Mr, L.
O. Lindsey.
Mr. Woods entire herd was placed
under quarantine on November 23rd,
test of the herd ig now being made. I do
not, as now, have the veterinarians re-
port on the test of the entire herd.
THE LINDSEY FARM
Upon investigation it was found that
several cows on the Lindsey farm were .
being milked and the milk was being
used by several families.
The Lindsey herd was put under
quarantine, and under the law was re-
quired to be kept on the farm until a
release from quarantine had _ been
issued.
The livestock inspectors in checking
the records of Swainsboro Stock Yards
found that en November 17th, according
to sales ticket No. 1155, Mr. L. O. Lind-
sey had sold 8 head of cattle in violation
of the quarantine.
The sales numbers of these cattle
were 146 through 152, inclusive. Sales
tag No. 152 covered a cow and calf.
The cow and calf No. 152 were. bought
by Mr. Joe MeKenzie, dealer and -broker
license No: 339; Bartow; Georgia. How:
ever, before delivery to Mr. McKenzie,
these animals were no saled and re
turned to the Lindsey farm.
On November 20, 1952, this cow and
call, with two other cows, were again
sold. The cow and calf in this sale were
number 685 and 687 respectively. They
were bought by Mr. E. T. Bradbury,
Augusta, - Georgia, broker: and dealer
license No. 160.
Mr. Bradbury stated to the inspector
that he had sold the cow and calf, either
at Tri-County Farmers Livestock Co. at
Social Circle, Georgia, or at Tri- County
Farmers IL.ivestock Co. at Leesville,
South: Carolina. An investigation of the
records at Social Circle did not disclose |
where the animals had been sold. I then
sent an inspector to the Tri-County barn
_at Leesville: South Carolina to investi-
gate. Mr. H. E. Clary contacted Mr. Roy
B. Whitney, Manager of the sale at Lees-
ville, who told him that Mr. Bradbury
sold the cow and calf, sales tag No. 426
and weighing. 725 pounds without the
weight of the calf for $132 50 on Novem-
ber 25, 1952. The cow still carried her
ear tag No 12786, This cow was not only
removed from quarantine in violation of
the law, but was also sold through Smith
Auction barn in violation of the
law, having the T branded on her
left jaw. In addition she was earried
across the State line into South Carolina
in violation of the Federal law on Inter-
State movement of T. B. cattle. Mr. Roy
B. Whitney, Manager of the Sales Barn
at Leesville, refused to disclose the buyer
of the animal because he wanted to pra-
tect Mr. Bradbury. I have notified the
State Veterinarian of South Carolina of
all these facts and I assume that he will
pursue the investigation in South Caro-
lina.
The other 2 cows sold with the cow
and calf through Smith Stock Yards
carried sales tags No. 686 and No. 688.
Cow No. 686 was purchased by Mr. Jack
Harris at Sharon, Georgia, broker and
dealer license No. 485. Mr. Harris in turn
sold this cow to White Provision Com-
pany, Atlanta, Georgia. This animal was
branded T and carried ear tag No.
12780; thus proving that she was one of

' Dear Sir:
Knowing something of the 1 reverence.
you hold. for the Bible and close attach-
Ment you have probably had for it
through life, I am sending you under |{
separate cover, a pamphlet that came to
my attention recently. concerning. the
New Translation of the pie by t 50-
called scholars.
- Somehow, i believe that I can sense .
your reaction to the facis brought out by -
this earnest. preacher, who is trying to
get the warning out to the people of: 7
God in time to stem the tide of MODERN-
~ ISM which, has been translated into the
Bible. The translators have not been fair,
| joined in pageants jatrodveln
as were the King James translators, and
put the added words in italics, one can
never tell except y comparison, what a
e
has been put in, or left out. In addition
to that, they have copyrighted the Bible
| so that no extended quotation for com-
parative purposes can be made without
the express permission of the sponsors.
They have removed the only biblical
authority in the old testament for the
miracle of the virgin birth of Christ by
changing Isaiah 7:17 from reading
VIRGIN to reading a young woman,
which robs the conception of being any
miracle whatever. Yet the writer of St.
Matthew knew the correct translation
in his day and put it In Greek so there
could be no change.
After reading the Darmphist, I do hope
that you will decide to give our good
people of Georgia enough warning te
put them on guard enough te investigate
before adopting and buying this new |
Bible into thelr homes. It is tragic te
think that many will buy, not knowing
of the vital changes that have taken
place.
now embarrassed? So many thousands
the new
Bible and sponsoring it, NE
get a chance te see something before it is
| in- general circulation, and that is the
case this pamphlet, so I =e = a
one, oe
My best wishes for your good health, - ;
Sincerely yours,

IMPORTANCE OF OBEYING
THE LAW
The sale of cattle from farm to farm
without proper precautions is endanger-
ing the health - many people and caus-
ing tremendous losses to farmers. The
indiscriminate hauling of cattle from
barn to barn is a threat to the entire live-
stock industry in the State.
The violation of quarantine of infected
animals is a crime and endangers the
health of the general public and also
causes the spread of disease to the herds
of innocent purehasers.
I do not think anyone will question :
that the above stated facts make it im-
~ perative for all sales barns to be |.
thoroughly. cleaned and disinfected be-.
fore each sale.
DISEASED AND EXPOSED ANIMALS

From the: above record you can see a:
that from one little s

sales barns showing to whom. they went,
it would have been impossible to have
tracked down these diseased and exposed -
animals. It would have been difficult to_
show violation of quarantine. The live-
stock industry of the State would have
suffered damage and no one can tell how
much. : oe
CATTLE STEALING
The keeping of proper records at sales
barns offers the greatest protection again-
st cattle rustlers. Stolen cattle will soon-
er or later find their way to market.
Proper records are of the greatest help
to police officers in running down stolen
cattle.
