Willie Bill Cleve Barksdale entered into rest on
September 28, 2021. He was born April 5, 1954, to the
late Leonard Barksdale, Sr. and Bertha J. Singleton, in
Augusta, Georgia.
At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ and was
baptized at Cumming Grove Baptist Church, under the
leadership of Reverend H.B. Bady. He was educated in
the Richmond County School System. He was employed
at Gracewood Hospital and International Paper.
When I must leave you
For a little while-
Please do not grieve
And shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow to you
Through the years,
Willie was a member of the Roadrunner Motorcycle
Club, where he was instrumental in creating and
organizing the club. He also enjoyed playing music.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his
son, Xzavier Barksdale.
Willie is survived by: his lovely wife, Josie Barksdale;
daughter, Stacie Barksdale; two sons, Brandon
Barksdale and Ramone (Sashanda) Griffin; parents, Sam
and Bertha Singleton; two sisters, Betty Harrison and
Rosemary (Jason) Beard; two brothers, Isaiah Barksdale
and Kenneth Barksdale; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Rouse,
Shirley (Lester) Dunn, and Ruby Brown; brothers-in-
law, Willie (Gladys) Brown of Manchester, NJ, and Joe
Tillman; seven grandchildren, Kiara Barksdale, Terald
Barksdale, Kelsha Barksdale, TyRiana Griffin, Levi
Griffin, Ca-Marien Habersham, and Jabbaari Rhoden;
five great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Kanisha Beard;
aunts, Dicie (Spencer) Davis of Charlotte, NC, and Carrie
(Marshall) Allen, Washington, DC; and a host of nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.
But start out bravely
With a gallant smile;
And for my sake
And for my name
Live on and do
All things the same,
Feed not your loneliness
On empty days,
But fill each waking hour
In useful ways,
Reach out your hand
In comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you
And holdyou near;
And never, never
Be afraid to die
For I am waiting for you in the sky!
