From 1981-1982, interviewers Frank Robuck and Robert Hall recorded oral histories in Cairo, Georgia focused on documenting Black history and preserving memories of Cairo during the early 20th century. Interviewees come from a wide range of backgrounds including military veterans, educators, farmers, midwives, and church officials. Each interview provides insights into the personal lives of the Black community in Cairo, with a particular focus on religious, social, and educational organizations.

Digitization of this collection is a project of the Georgia Public Library Service, a unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, in association with the Roddenbery Memorial Library.
