- Description:
- Postcard (halftone, 3 ½ x 5 ½ inches) titled – Union Square, New York. - Union Square is a historic intersection and surrounding neighborhood in Manhattan, New York City, located where Broadway and the former Bowery Road – now Fourth Avenue – came together in the early 19th century. Its name denotes that "here was the union of the two principal thoroughfares of the island". Printed by the Illustrated Post Card Company, a major publisher which produced a wide variety of tinted halftone postcards in series that were printed in Germany, this card bears the distinctive eagle logo of the company. In 1909 they stopped importing cards from Germany and began printing their own. No descriptive text on reverse. Postmarked May 2, 1906, Madison Square Station, N.Y. Card number 117
