- Postcard (color, white border, divided back, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) Title on reverse: 79th The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders - This Scottish infantry regiment was formed in 1793. It fought in many campaigns until 1961, when it was merged into The Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons). This card is one of a series of 82 depicting statuettes made in the 1930s. They were replicas of the carved wooden models designed by Charles d’Orville Pilkington Jackson (1887-1973) for the opening of the Scottish United Services Museum in 1933. Text on reverse: 79th The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders – Raised 1793 - Sargent Batt. Coy. Drill Order 1796. Statuette carved in oak and coloured from the series by Pilkington Jackson, showing the dress of the Scottish Regiment from 1633 in the Scottish United Services Museum, The Castle Edinburgh. Printed in Scotland.
