- Postcard (color, linen textured, divided back, 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) titled "Fort Hawkins, Macon, GA" M-5 features the historic log and stone building located in the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. The Fort Hawkins Archaeological Site was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. Fort Hawkins was established in 1806 by President Thomas Jefferson and Indian Affairs Agent Col. Benjamin Hawkins as an official U.S. Army Fort and frontier "Indian Factory" for trading and meeting with Creek Indians. No descriptive text on reverse. Postage required – 1 cent stamp. Card number 12917.
