Text on reverse: Atlanta, a metropolitan city with a population of well above 400,000, had its start when in 1837 Stephen H. Long, a young civil engineer supervised the driving of a stake to mark a railroad terminus. Today, Atlanta is the largest transportation center in the South. The airport is the Nation’s third busiest. Postmarked Aug 20 1947 6pm Atlanta GA Postage affixed – 3 cent Thomas Jefferson stamp.
