- This series of WRDW-TV newsfilm clips show the unveiling ceremony for the "Miss Justice" statue outside the Augusta-Richmond County Municipal Building. The statue had been on top of the cupola of the old Augusta City Hall and Richmond County Courthouse since around 1820 until February 27, 1958, just before the old building was demolished. The statue was restored and placed on a granite pedestal at the Telfair Street side of the new Municipal Building on August 21, 1962. Unlike many versions of Lady Justice, this statue does not have a blindfold. She does, however, have both scales of truth or justice and a sword of vengeance.
The opening two clips show the draped statue and a close shot of the plaque at the base. The high winds that forced the official ceremony to be held inside the building are evident from the billowing of the drapery.
The next six clips are of an unidentified man addressing a seated audience inside the building. The clips alternated between the man and the shots of the audience.
The next four clips are outside. An unidentified woman and several unidentified men are shown removing the drapery.
The final clip shows the upper part of the statue and the scales of justice being blown by the winds.
