- Description:
- Letter from John Couper, dated at St. Simons Island on September 21, 1836, addressed to Roswell King at Farmington, Connecticut. Refers to letter received on the 31st and congratulated recipient and Julia on arrival of "another Prince." Sends congratulations to Mrs. M. Reminds recipient that he had previously written that the Glynn Hussars and 50 men from Wayne [County] under the command of Capt Couper had marched out from the Lodge but says they were directed to return within 10 miles of destination. Notes debate about where the Creeks are, but says only one man killed in Ware County and no other news. Comments that "Brunswick is all the rage now. As I do not think success will follow, I am forced to be silent." Laments that King's father did not take his [Couper's] advice to sell out.
