- Description:
- Postcard features a black and white image of the Arlington Hotel, located on South Main and Spring streets in Gainesville, GA. The hotel was built in 1882 and bought by J.H. Hunt in the early 1900s. The building was damaged by the 1936 tornado and remodeled and reopened in 1938. When first built, the Arlington was the only hotel in the business district of Gainesville and was the starting point for stage coaches going to Dahlonega, White Sulphur, New Holland, and Porter Springs. The hotel later became the Dixie Hunt Hotel.
