Know all men by these presents, that I,
Mary Sadler, for & in consideration of the Sum of Seven
hundred & fifty dollars, to me in hand paid by [Edwin] R. Alberti,
at & before the sealing & delivery of these presents (by his note
for said amount payable [words deleted: from] six months after date, which
ever on the 1 [January], 1842) the receipt whereof is hereby acknowl-
leged, Have granted, bargained & sold, & by the
Presents Do grant, bargain & sell unto said [Edwin] R. Alberti
his heirs & assigns, two Negroes, namely Joe, & his wife
Polly, to Have & to Hold, to him the said [Edwin] R. Alberti,
his heirs & assigns forever.
And the said Mary Sadler, her herself, her Heirs, Execu-
-tors & Administrators the said bargained property, unto
the said Edwin R. Alberti His heirs & assigns will
Warrant and forever defend, the right & title thereof
against them, & against the claim of all persons
whatsoever[.]
In Witness whereof the Said Mary Sadler
hath hereunto set the honor & seal this [blank] day of
1842, to take effect, from the 1st day of January
last part.
