- Description:
- Yarborough Mill was built in Fairmount, Gordon County, Georgia, in 1849 as a working gristmill (for wheat and corn) and settlement by Percy Yarborough, a physician and pharmacist based in Adairsville, Georgia. The mill was accompanied by a farmhouse, also built in 1849. A millwright named "Mr. Reese" is also credited with the mill's construction. A Queen Anne-style Victorian house was added in 1885. In later years, the W. C. J. Garrard family became the homeowners. The mill remained in operation through the early 1900s. Over the years, the mill also served as the local post office where mail was delivered on horseback. In 1998, it was purchased and restored by its current owners (as of 2025), who have operated the mill as a wedding event venue since 2013. Variant names include: Yarbrough Mill and House.
