- Chieftains, or Major Ridge Home, Rome, Georgia. Major John Ridge (1771-1839), whose former home Chieftains now occupies, was one of the signers of the Treaty of New Echota, which resulted in the relocation of the Cherokee people. The home was built around a dogtrot cabin, and is a stop on the Trail Of Tears National Historic Trail. Variant names include: Chieftains.
