Dean Bailey's
Philosophy of Education
God created man in his own image. Intellectual
curiosity is one of the manifestations of our divine
nature. The deepest purpose of education is to feed
the man's intellectual nature, to stimulate his curi-
osity and then add to his mind information and
ideas and ideals. The purpose of Christian Educa- ,
tion is not only to feed the intellect, but to induce
the man to think of himself as a member of God's
family, with family responsibilities and privileges
the responsibility to serve, the privilege of living in
fellowship with the Source of all wisdom" and truth.

ED NELSON
This year, for the first time, students planned all of the
Homecoming activities. Heretofore various local alumni clubs
had done the planning. The theme for Homecoming week-
end was "Autumn on the Hill."
Annual stunt night was held on Friday night with the
sophomore and freshman classes taking first and second places
respectively. An Alumni luncheon, tour of the campus, and
receptions given by the sororities and fraternities for former
members highlighted Saturday.
The week-end came to a climax Saturday night at a
formal dance when Ann Gower and Ed Nelson were
crowned Homecoming Queen and King.

the rules according to the powers granted to it by the president and faculty.
This council also helps orientate new students at the first of school, is responsible
for the Junior-Freshman Wedding, and holds a special pledge service in which all
students become members of the Student Government Association. A spring retreat
enables the council to make new plans for the progress of the school.

Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Guardian of our days;
For thy spirit never failing
We will sing thy praise.
High aloft we hold thy banner
Ever loyal, true ;
And to thee, our Alma Mater,
We our pledge renew.
In thy mighty groves of learning
Wisdom's paths we've sought ;
High upon thy lofty hilltop
Visions have been wrought.
From our hearts we sing the chorus
Time shall never change,
Hail to thee, our Alma Mater,
Hail to thee, LaGrange.
