Edward Vason Jones was an architect from Albany, Georgia who specialized in a neoclassical style. He took on many projects in the southeast but also gained national fame, leading to design work for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the White House. Throughout his career, Jones took photographs and made sketches of a wide range of architectural interests, which would inform his work. He was also a recognized as a collector and connoisseur of early 19th century American furniture and decorative arts. In 1970, Jones collaborated with Berry Tracy, curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's American Wing, on an exhibit, '19th Century America.' He designed several period rooms and installed them with the help of his own crew. Jones also loaned furniture from his personal collection for the exhibit. - Local Identifier:
