In 1888 a charter was established to found the Georgia Baptist Asylum for Orphaned Children, its first campus opened in Hapeville, Georgia. In the 1940's the name was changed to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home and the organization was expanded to three campuses including Baxley, Georgia, and Pine Mountain, Georgia. In 1968 the Hapeville location was moved to Palmetto, Georgia. The organization currently has many locations all over Georgia as well as several community outreach programs. - Local Identifier:
