Big Canoe is a planned community in the North Georgia Mountains near the town of Jasper, Georgia. The development began in the early 1970's by Cousins Properties of Atlanta. In 1987 Byrne Corporation purchased the property and in 1997 joined forces with Greenwood Development Corporation. The community offers a variety of activities for residents and their guests: hiking, golf, tennis, swimming, community center, fishing, and boating. - Local Identifier:
