Providence Canyon is located in Stewart County Georgia, in the southwest corner of the state. The site is protected by Providence Canyon State Park. The canyon was created by rainwater runoff from farm fields beginning in the early 1800's. The canyon is named for Providence Methodist Church which still stands between the canyon and the gorges. - Local Identifier:
