His social life included dating girls but he also continued his sexual relationships with males as well. He first came to Atlanta in the mid 1950s while serving in the Army and was stationed at Ft. McPherson. He recalls attending a drag show at a club in downtown Atlanta called Wit's End. The club had a mixed clientele and the bar area appeared to be the gay section. He finished college in North Carolina after the Army and returned to Atlanta in the 1960s. He mentions several gay establishments he frequented after moving to Atlanta: The Cove, Wit's End, Mrs. P;s, Pappy's Plantation Lounge, Papa Johns, Piccolo Lounge, El Matador, and Mr. Adams. He recalls most of his relationships have been short-term and mostly with married men. He discusses his AIDS diagnosis in 1992 and the impact on his life.
