- In the interview, Mr. Jones describes his involvement in several local charitable organizations: Helping Hands of Atlanta, Project Open Hand, and Project Outreach. The latter two organizations provide food for people with AIDS. Mr. Jones also detailed his involvement as one of the founders of the Atlanta Executive Network - a network of influencial business leaders. He also discusses the awareness of AIDS in the community and how the disease effected sexual activities within all communities but especially the gay community. He states that although he is not a religious man he believes God put him on earth for a purpose. He also recalls the gay culture in Atlanta during the early 1960s: meeting places, bars, and restaurants.
Allen Jones, born Conyers, Georgia, has lived the majority of his life in Atlanta. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and spent a brief period in Air Force Reserve.
