- In the interview, Mr. Strouss discusses how his sexuality became evident during high school. He describes volunteering for the Signal Corp during World War II and the small community of gay soldiers he encountered during his time in the service. After the war he worked for Civil Service and lost his job during the McCarthy era due to his sexuality. He also recounts his relationships before meeting his current partner in 1981.
Mr. Strouss, born in 1923 in Atlanta, Georgia, attended Boys High School. He volunteered for the service during World War II and served in the Signal Corp. He secured a Civil Service position after the war and then in the film industry for twenty seven years. - Local Identifier:
