- Description:
- Sermon written by Reverend Henry Newton from the verse Hebrews 12:1. Newton relates a scene from the Bible where an apostle exhorts Christian Hebrews to perservere through past sins and persecutions and continue the race. Newton comments that the race alluded to is a life in obedience to God's law through mortification of sin and a strengthening of graces. Newton then describes the three main hinderances: the world, the flesh, and the devil. Finally, he pleas with those who are not interested in Christ to join the race.
