- Description:
- Turn-of-the-twentieth century image of cotton bales being stored on unidentified street in downtown Augusta, Georgia. Throughout August and September thousands of cotton bales lined the streets along Augusta's Cotton Row. The close proximity of Bay, Jackson, and Reynolds Streets to both the railroad and Savannah River provided an ideal location for the storage of baled cotton.
