Cfterry QiCCBatts Thomas was bom December 12,1948 in
Doans County, Qeoryia to 9^ary Qrace Batts and the late SamueC
Stewart. She was educated in the pubCic schools of Doans County
where she was an honor graduate of the Class of1967. During school
she was captain of the oarsity cheerleading squad, a homecoming queen
and a member of the oarsity basketball team.
Cherry worked as an elementary school educator in Doans
County, SU4DDS in Wiesbaden, Qermany, Sudge SLdoocate Qeneral's
Office in Mainz, Qermany, and DDCSi Commissaries at Aberdeen
Prooing Qround, Maryland. She faithfully served as an KCf.at the
Camellia 9fursing Docility in Cla7(pn, Qeorgia before retiring. Upon
receioing her DDfdegree, she gained recognition as one of the top ten
students who graduated from the State of feorgia in 2007.
On Monday, September 13, 2010 Qod chose another angel to
come home and rest. Cherry Hoed and enjoyed life to the fullest, was
looed by many and a friend to all Mer precious memories will Hoe on

William Batts of%gcine, Wisconsin; two daughters, Songa D. Jones,
9{D(enge SI. Cruz (Dpmanuel); a son, James Dhomas, Jr., dl of Stone
Mountain, (jSL; three grandchildren. Sishley Small, BgshadSmall and
SfjKgrra Thompson; one great-grandchild, Zaniah Derr ell; a host of
cousins, other relatioes and other sorrowing friends.

^Footprints
One night a mm had a dream, dhe dreamed he was walking along
the Beach zmth the Lord. Across the sl<g flashed scenes from his life. For
each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one Belonged to
him, and the other to the Lord.
Tdhen the Bast scene of his life flashed Before him, he loofced Back
at the footprints in the sand. Lie noticed that many times along the
path of his life there was only one set of footprints. Lie also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
Fhis really Bothered him and he questioned the Lord aBout it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, youd walkwith me all the
way. But 1 have noticed that during the most trouBlesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed
you the most you wotdd leave me.' Fhe Lord replied, "Ldy precious,
precious child, I love you and zoould never leave you. During your times
of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then
that I carried you."
