Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor
especially they who labor in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy 5:17
Pastor Lloyd B. Jones was a man who talked and walked
with God.
He was bom on June 29, 1924 in Evans County, Georgia to
the late Albert and Ezia Jones. He was the eldest of six
children; two siblings preceded him in death, Robert Jones
and Juanita Benjamin.
As a young boy he worked with his father on the farm. In
1942 he enlisted in the United States Army. On October 13,
1943 he was united in holy matrimony to the former
Thelma Lucille Whitfield. There were eight children bom
of this union. One of which preceded him in death, Donald.
In 1953, L.B. (as he was called) and his family moved to
New York City. There he held many jobs. In 1957 he was
bom a second time, this time unto Salvation. Shortly after
his conversion God called him into the Ministry which
spanned forty nine years. In this time he pastored four
churches; First Church of God, Jamaica, New York,
United Community Church of Laurelton, New York,
Glenville Church of God, Glenville, Georgia, and the
Wabash Church of God in Dublin, Georgia where he was
pastoring at he time of his death. Also, he served as
Assistant Pastor of Church of God Mission in Springfield
Gardens, New York City.
During his pastorate he attended and graduated from Bethel
Baptist Bible Institute and also took correspondent courses
at Anderson, Indiana and Bible Institute of the Church of
God Ministral Alliance, New York City. He served as a
Bible Teacher and Radio Preacher for many years. He was
also a dedicated servant to the Nursing Home Ministries.
Pastor Jones was a people person. He touched the lives of
everyone he met. He was truly a great husband, father and
pastor. His life was an example to his wife, children,
grandchildren, church members, fellow ministers and all
who knew him.
Pastor Jones touched many many lives and was loved by
all. He lived the life he preached. He has come to the end
of his row. He stood the test and he has finished the task
he set out to do. He will now take his rest.
He ended his journey on November 22, 2006. He leaves to
cherish his memory; a loving and devoted wife of 63 years,
Thelma L. Jones; four sons, Albert Jones (Lillian) of
Savannah, GA, Delmar Jones of Dublin, GA, Andre Jones
of New York, Phillip Jones (Tandra) of Macon, GA; three
daughters, Sandra L. Hunter (Hamilton) of Savannah, GA,
Dorothy Ballard (Roosevelt) of New York City, Monica
Figueroa of Macon, GA, and one spiritual daughter, Helen
Edmond (Bobby) of Dublin, GA; one brother. Rev. Lee
Jones (Mary) of Collins, GA; two sisters, Nita Bell Baker,
Lueretha Tillman both of Claxton, GA; twenty four
grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and a host
of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Dont grieve for me for now Im free.
Im following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all
I could not stay another day to laugh, to love,
To work or play
Lift up your hearts and share with me.
God wanted me now. He Set Me Free
