Dr. Alexander Smith, Jr., Chairman Georgia General Assembly of the Church of God Interment Jerusalem Baptist Church Groveland, Georgia Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor especially they who labor in the word and doctrine. 1 Timothy 5:17 Pastor Lloyd B. Jones was a man who talked and walked with God. He was bom on June 29, 1924 in Evans County, Georgia to the late Albert and Ezia Jones. He was the eldest of six children; two siblings preceded him in death, Robert Jones and Juanita Benjamin. As a young boy he worked with his father on the farm. In 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army. On October 13, 1943 he was united in holy matrimony to the former Thelma Lucille Whitfield. There were eight children bom of this union. One of which preceded him in death, Donald. In 1953, L.B. (as he was called) and his family moved to New York City. There he held many jobs. In 1957 he was bom a second time, this time unto Salvation. Shortly after his conversion God called him into the Ministry which spanned forty nine years. In this time he pastored four churches; First Church of God, Jamaica, New York, United Community Church of Laurelton, New York, Glenville Church of God, Glenville, Georgia, and the Wabash Church of God in Dublin, Georgia where he was pastoring at he time of his death.
