Obituary
Deacon Hope Hagan was born on February 9, 1943 in Evans County to Mr.
Leroy Hagan and the late Mrs. Edna Kate Slaughter-Hagan. He departed this
world into eternal peace Tuesday, November 20, 2001.
Deacon Hagan was educated in the Tattnall County School System. He
received his degree in Electronics from Manpower Development in Statesboro,
Georgia.
In his early years of life, he attended the Church of God in Glennville, Georgia.
He later joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 22. He held
several offices, however, he served on the Deacon board for 31 years and 19 of
which he served as chairman.
On December 23, 1962, at the age of 19 he was united in Holy Matrimony to
Alfreda McKinnon. To this union four children were born. Baby Lora Lonease,
preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 39 years,
Alfreda; one son, Hope Cornelius (Felicia) of Savannah, GA; two daughters.

(Charles) Hall of Hinesville, GA; his father, Leroy (stepmother, Willie Mae)
Hagan; five sisters, Mae Bell (James) Forrest of Claxton, GA, Rosetta
(DuVaughn) Nunnally of Glennville, GA, Edna Pearl Thomas of Ludowici, GA,
Gail Porter of Lyons, GA, and Ilene (James) King of Stone Mountain, GA; two
brothers, Grady (Jerry Dean) Hagan of Miami, FL, and Early (Kathy) Hagan of
Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Andrew Jacob, Kristen Olivia, Jaques ONeil,
Jamel Obrian, Jabri Alexander, Alina Olympia, Oshja-Alizabetb, and Juan III;
six sisters-in-law, Catherine Armstrong of Glennville, GA, Myrtle Duffy of
Beaumont, TX, Rose McKinnon of New York, NY, Connie McKinnon of
Beaufort, AC, Marion McKinnon of Claxton, GA and Cara Lee Hagan of
Claxton, GA; six brothers-in-law, Alvin, Abe, and Millard McKinnon all of New
York, NY, Algerene McKinnon of Beaufort, SC, Harold Armstrong of
Glennville, GA, Gene McKinnon of Claxton, GA, and Robert Duffy of
Beaumont, TX; nine aunts, six uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, rel-
atives and friends.

He loved us, he prayed for us
He worked for us, and he taught us well...

Hope was his strength

The life he lived
Filled our hearts with light.
His smile was so kind, sweet and true
He welcomed his friends
And new grandkids too.
Patience, guidance and wisdom
Were his virtues
This is how he will be remembered.
For this is the man we knew
He was never to busy to lend a hand
To touch all of our hearts
Was apart of Gods plan.
He did not want to leave us
But God said it must be so.
Knowing this was Gods will
We shall let him go.
To be free to roam the streets of gold
To guide and protect us
Until we are old.
A better place you now reside
Then we shall be together
Holding hands side by side.

them during the bereavement of their loved one. May God bless

Dinner will be served at the V.F.W. on the Reidsville Highway
Our idea is to serve well and trade fairly. To profit not alone in dollars but in
good will of those whom we serve. To correct our errors, to improve our oppor-
tunities and to rear from our daily work a structure which shall be known for
all that is best in our chosen profession.
