OBITUARY
Mr. Kelly Baker, the son of the late Mr. Andrew Baker
and Mrs. Lola Hagan Baker was born in Evans County,
Georgia on August 22, 1909 and he quietly slipped away
into eternal rest on July 18, 1990 at Pecan Manor Nurs-
ing Home, Statesboro, Georgia after a long illness.
On April 21, 1932 he was joined in Holy Matrimony
to Ms. Elizabeth Kennedy and to this union two children
were born. He joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Church,
realizing and acknowledging the need for a Savior. He was
employed by the Evans Board of Education for 22 years
as a bus driver. This indicates that he was both dedicated
and trustworthy. He was also owner and manager of
Bakers Barbeque and Convenience Store.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and
loving wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Kennedy Baker, Claxton,
Georgia; a son, Jimmy E. Baker, Savannah, Georgia; a
daughter, Mrs. Bernadette Kamara, East Elmhurst, New
York; two brothers, Erthal Baker, Claxton, Georgia and
Winton Baker, Sanford, Florida; five sisters, Mrs. Beretha
Smith and Mrs. Falada Crumbley, both of New York, New
York, Mrs. Valeria Paukey, Arberdeen, Maryland, Mrs.
Evelyn Kirkland and Mrs. Theresa Swinson, both of Clax-
ton, Georgia; one aunt, Mrs. Carrie Baker, Claxton,
Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Pamela Geiger Baker;
one son-in-law, Sorie Kamara; two sisters-in-law, Mrs.
Willie Mae Baker, Sanford, Florida and Mrs. Elesta Baker,
Mt. Vernon, New York; two brothers-in-law. Rev. Walter
Kirkland, Claxton, Georgia and Mr. Ervin Paukey, Arber-
deen, Maryland; six grandchildren, several nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends.
God saw the road was getting rough
The Hills were hard to climb
He gently closed those loving eyes
And whispered, Peace Be Thine.
The weary hours, the days of pain.
The sleepless nights are passed.
The ever-patient worn out frame
Has found sweet rest at last.
