Pleasant church cemetery HARPERS FUNERAL HOME IN CHARGE CLAXTDN, GEORGIA OBITUARY Mr. Kelly Baker, the son of the late Mr. Andrew Baker and Mrs. Lola Hagan Baker was born in Evans County, Georgia on August 22, 1909 and he quietly slipped away into eternal rest on July 18, 1990 at Pecan Manor Nurs- ing Home, Statesboro, Georgia after a long illness. On April 21, 1932 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Elizabeth Kennedy and to this union two children were born. He joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Church, realizing and acknowledging the need for a Savior. He was employed by the Evans Board of Education for 22 years as a bus driver. This indicates that he was both dedicated and trustworthy. He was also owner and manager of Bakers Barbeque and Convenience Store. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Kennedy Baker, Claxton, Georgia; a son, Jimmy E. Baker, Savannah, Georgia; a daughter, Mrs. Bernadette Kamara, East Elmhurst, New York; two brothers, Erthal Baker, Claxton, Georgia and Winton Baker, Sanford, Florida; five sisters, Mrs. Beretha Smith and Mrs. Falada Crumbley, both of New York, New York, Mrs. Valeria Paukey, Arberdeen, Maryland, Mrs. Evelyn Kirkland and Mrs. Theresa Swinson, both of Clax- ton, Georgia; one aunt, Mrs. Carrie Baker, Claxton, Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Pamela Geiger Baker; one son-in-law, Sorie Kamara; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Willie Mae Baker, Sanford, Florida and Mrs. Elesta Baker, Mt. Vernon, New York; two brothers-in-law. Rev. Walter Kirkland, Claxton, Georgia and Mr. Ervin Paukey, Arber- deen, Maryland; six grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. God saw the road was getting rough The Hills were hard to climb He gently closed those loving eyes And whispered, Peace Be Thine. The weary hours, the days of pain. The sleepless nights are passed.
