OBITUARY
And as the path of duty is made plain, may grace be
given that I may walk therein not like the hireling, for his
selfish gain with backward glances and reluctant tread
making a merit of his coward dread but cheerful in the
light around me thrown walking as one to pleasant service
led; Doing Gods will as if it were my own, yet trusing not
in mine but in his strength alone.
Mary Etta Middleton, daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Williams, was born February 6, 1913, in Jenkins
County, Millen, Georgia. She learned early in life her
personal path of duty and followed it with unselfishness
and dedication until her passing. Married to the late Henry
Middleton who proceeded her in death. She was a faithful
member of the First A. B. Church, where she attended
regularly and gave her support to the best of her ability.
Mrs. Middleton will be remembered best for the charming
little things that characterized her life her quiet and
unassuming disposition. Her love and loyalty to family and
friends and her gentleness of spirit on Tuesday night,
November 1, 1988 the Lord called her home to eternal rest.
May her soul find peace, favor and acceptance with her
maker and indeed may her love live on.
Cherishing her memory are five daughters, Mrs. Daisy
Bell Benjamin, Maywood, III., Mrs. Betty Ann Smith, Ft.
Laudersdale, Fla., Mrs. Rosa Mae Palmer, Hinesville, Ga.,
Ms. Etta Mae Middfeton, Ms. Christine Middleton of
Claxton, Ga.; two soni Mr. Henry Middleton, Jr., and
Mr. Willie Lewis Middleton, both of Claxton; three
sons-in-law, Mr. Bobby Benjamin, Maywood, III., Mr.
Willie James Smith, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs.
Cornell Palmer, Hinesville, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Mae Alice Middleton, Claxton; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa
Holmes, Millen, Ga., Mrs. Susan Williams, Gainsville,
Fla.; one brother, Mr. Frank Williams, Augusta, Ga.;
twenty three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, twenty
great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
We loved her yes we loved her, but God loved her
more and he has swiftly called her to yonders shining
shore. The golden gates were opened, a gentle voice said
come and with farewell unspoken, she calmly entered
home.
