OBITUARY
Early Monday morning, November 29,1976, an angel of
silence entered the Claxton Nursing Home and sealed the lips
of Mrs. Sallie Ann Macon. Her soul winged flight from this
world of sin, sorrow and pain, to a place of peace and eternal
rest.
She was born in Warsaw, N. C. on February 23,1876, to
Mr. and Mrs. Hill. She moved to Georgia with her family at
an early age and settled in this area.
She joined Hagan Chapel Baptist Church and later
moved her membership to St. John Baptist Church of Claxton
where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.
She was married in her youth to Mr. Sam Brown and
more recently to Rev. A. M. Macon, both of whom preceded
her in death. Three children have also preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing three daughters, Mrs.
Novella Henley, Claxton, Ga., Mrs. Corrinne Kent,
Savannah, Ga., and Mrs. Lilia Bryant, Cleveland, Ohio; one
son, Mr. Raleigh Macon, Claxton; one daughter-in-law, Mrs.
Bernice Macon, Claxton; one step-daughter, Mrs. Arie
Middleton and two step-sons, Mr. Emory Macon and Mr. Ed
Macon, all of Savannah, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Maggie
Bailey, Claxton; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7
great-great-grandchildren; several neices, nephews, and
other relatives.
Lifes race is run.
Lifes work is done.
And now she rests.
