OBITUARY
Work and pray till Jesus calls you
Help to gather in the grain;
Then with joy you will meet your loved one
And there in happiness remain.
Deacon William Jonah Tootle, the son of the
late Mr. William Tootle and Annie Eliza Brewton
Tootle, was born in Tattnall County, Georgia,
July 15, 1896, and departed this life February 28,
1973, in the Midway Nursing Home, Midway, Ga.,
after a short illness.
He joined the Hagan Chapel Baptist Church
at an early age, he served and became an Ordain-
ed Deacon under the leadership of Rev. D. H.
Hobbs. He later moved to Savannah, Ga., and
united himself with the Tabernacle Baptist
Church and served faithfully as a member and
Deacon.
He was united in marriage to the late Miss
Mary Carlton. To this union one son was born.
Deacon Tootle will be sadly missed by all that
knew him. He leaves to mourn one son, Mr. Fred
Tootle of California, one brother, Mr. Samuel
Tootle, Indianapolis, Ind., two sisters, Mrs. Ellen
Stewart, Hagan, Ga., Mrs. Eliza Harrington, St.
Petersburg, Fla., one uncle, Mr. Doyle Brewton,
Savannah, Ga., several loving nieces and neph-
ews and many other relatives and friends.
I cannot say, and I will not say.
That he is dead, he is just away.
With a cherry smile and a wave of a hand.
He has wondered into an unknown land.
Think of him still as the same, I say.
He is not dead, he is just away.
