- Letter dated February 3, 1844 from W.B. Lewis in the Second Auditor's Office of the Treasury Department to William H. Thomas concerning government reimbursement for J. W. King for his services in boarding Cherokee Indians and their horses at Murphey, North Carolina, during a meeting they attended concerning the New Echota treaty of 1835. The money was paid to Thomas, the legal representative of the Eastern Cherokees, for King.

25. August 1843 -- while said Indians were attending to their claims before the board of Cherokee Commissioners, acting under the treaty of
1835. -- the same being payable to you as Attorney.
