Article of agreement this
21 day of December 1838 between Betsey Woodward of the County of Bradley and state of Tennessee Attorney in fact for William Elder of the Cherokee nation west of the Mississippi River of the one part and Nicholas S. Peck of the County of Monroe and state aforesaid of the other part
Witnesseth that the said Nicholas S Peck on his part doth agree to prosecute and do all things necessary and proper to be done in establishing a reservation taken by Moses Elder in his own right under the treaty of
1817 which claim having been prepared by said Peck and the papers filed with the united states Commissioners for adjudication in Conformity with the late treaty between the united States & and cherokee Indians as attorney in fact of said Betsey woodward [unclear text: Atto [Attorney] ] & c [et cetera] On her part doth agree to pay to said Peck [unclear text: Atto [Attorney] ] & c [et cetera] for his trouble and expense ten percent Out of the money allowed for said claim and if said reservation claim should be sent to the City of Washington for a final decision Or settlement the said Betsey doth agree to pay said Peck twelve and a half percent

Out of said money -- And do authorise [authorize] and empower said Peck to recive [receive] and reciept [receipt] for said money to the proper officer of the government for the same whenever said claim shall be determined
