The powers of attorney of the following named Cherokees remaining East of the Mississippi under the provisions of the 12th article of the treaty of
1835 are here with [herewith] enclosed. The balances due them for improvements under the 9th article with references to the books and pages where the same appear are also annexed. In their names as their attorney in fact allow me respectfully to ask payment. By the stipulations of the treaty referred to all their due need to have been paid them as soon as an appropriation was made therefore. Congress made the appropriation
July 2, 1836, They are in need of money to pay for lands purchased
