- This document is a letter written to General (Daniel ?) Smith from William Blount (Governor of Tennessee, 1790-1795), on April 3, 1794. Blount reports that French Minister Edmund Genet has been removed from his post, thus ending the project of General (George Rogers ?) Clark. He also refers to his correspondence with a person he calls D.A., who has informed Blount that the Commissioner of Indian Affairs is in favor of commencing offensive military operations. Governor Blount also discusses his upcoming business plans and some news from the House of Representatives.

Dear Sir,
Genet is removed & his Successor has arrived at Philadelphia, with his Removal the Project of General Clark must expire
Letters from D.A. inform me that the Comr. [Commissioner] of Indian Affairs will report in favour [favor] of offensive operations and I hope Congress will concur -- -- D.A. ' s letter is dated
Feb. [February] 12th. -- I have none so late from the Secretary of War. -- I shall leave this on the
20th Instant for the Moravian Town there to meet Mrs. Blount & shall be back by the
20 th May at farthest. -- The Report spread among the the People by the Members of the House of Representatives seems to have diffused satisfaction to all Ranks. -- I am with great Respect,
