Fayettesville
May 10th 1814
William English Pillar a volunteer under the acts of congress of
February the 6th and
July 6th 1812, has served on an expedition against the creek Indians under my command from the
fourth day of October 1813, untill [until] the
tenth day of May 1814 -- which with the addition of a tour of four and a half months to Natchez makes three hundred and Sixty five days actual Service, the time for which he originally engaged -- he was the only person of [added text: Capt ] Wm. [William] Smiths company that did not quit the service in
Decr [December] last for the faithful discharge of his duty he receives my thanks and is hereby honorably discharged
