- This is a letter dated September 17, 1789 from treaty commissioners Andrew Pickens and Henry Osborn to Lieutenant Colonel Jesse Sanders, commander of the guard to protect the commissioners negotiating a treaty with the Creek Indians at Rock Landing (Baldwin County, Georgia). Pickens and Osborn inform him that, owing to changes in Indian policies recently enacted by the President of the United States, they no longer require his services.

We received your note of today; In justice to you, we cannot help returning you our sincere thanks, for the obliging manner, in which you had conducted your self, at this place.
The Supreme Executive of the United States having been pleased to change the arrangements respecting Indian business we cannot require your attendence [attendance] longer.
