- This is a statement dated November 2, 1805 on behalf of Levin Wailes, surveyor for the second district of Baldwin County, Georgia, prepared by Surveyor General Daniel Sturges. Sturges confirms that Wailes has completed his duties as surveyor for part of the land ceded by the Creek Indians pursuant to the Treaty of Fort Wilkinson (signed June 16, 1802) and concludes that he is due a total of just over one thousand four hundred dollars for his services.

[Esquire] Surveyor of the Second District in Baldwin County has deposited in this Office, evidences of his having completed the duties assigned him by an act entitled "An Act to make distribution of the late cession of lands obtained of the Creek nation by the United States Commissioners in a Treaty entered into at or near Fort Wilkinson on the
Sixteenth day of June Eighteen hundred and two": -- And I do further certify that from those evidences it appears, he has run or surveyed, in the execution of his respective surveys collectively, Six hundred and thirty miles -- sixty three chains, and fifty two links; which authorises [authorizes] him to demand of the state, the sum of Seventeen hundred and thirty four dollars, sixty six & one quarter cents; deducting the sum of three hundred dollars, advanced --
