- Letter dated May 9, 1826 from John Macpherson Berrien, U.S. Senator from Georgia, to George Troup, Governor of Georgia (1823-1827). Berrien informs Troup that he is enclosing a copy of an unidentified bill that is no longer attached (probably the proclamation of the Treaty of Washington, D.C. with the Creeks), just passed in the House of Representatives. Berrien mentions the deliberations on the nomination of Col. David Brearly (as U.S. agent appointed to superintend Creek emigration, also referred to herein.) He states that the McIntosh party (those Creeks aligned with slain leader William McIntosh) will be allowed to return the Creek Nation. This letter is related to tcc685, tcc686, tcc688, and tcc689.

My Dear Sir,
I have just a moment to enclose to you a copy of the bill [deleted text: referred to in my last ], referred to in my last, which having previously passed the Senate, passed today the house of Representatives. We will act today on the nomination of [unclear text: Col Brearly ] & the McIntosh party will now be permitted to return under circumstances which are satisfactory to them. On these results I congratulate you-
