Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 20th Inst. [Instant] It will afford me pleasure to render any service in my power in closing the claims of Georgia against the United States for money advanced in the late Indian Wars. My cooperation with the Agent of the State will be most cherfully [cheerfully] given.
Should legislation however become necessary [unclear text: in ] referance [reference] to this subject it is now too late to indulge the hopes that any successful effort can be made during the present Session,
