Lowndes County
Novber [November] 21st 1837
His Excellency
Govenor [Governor] Gilmer
Sir
I have learnt [learned] quite Recently that a man by the name of William T. Thompson had presented at the Executive department a pay rolle [payroll] for him self as Captain Commanding a Company in the late Creek Campaign and also a pay rolle [payroll] as agent for a Captain [deleted text: [illegible text] ] Holmes of this County, which was audited an [and] paid as I understand, I take this method of informing Your Excellency that it is a fraud practised [practiced] on Goverment [Government] by the said Thompson for he had no such Command, and as for Captain Holmes there was no such Captain in this County, at that time nor never had been, to the best of my Knowledge

Verry [Very] Respectfully Your Obt. Servt. [Obedient Servant]
[Signed] Henry Blair [illegible text] Comdt. [Commandmant] 81st Regt. G.M. [Regiment Georgia Militia]
We whose names are hereunto subscribed do certify the above statement to be corect [correct]
[Signed] William Blair
