To th [the] Executive department
In arranging my muster roll of Services done by Citizens of this County in the last Creek Campaign I was thrown upon the memory of myself and others as to persons and length of time in service which added to treacherous designs of those whose assistance I requested I find several Errors in adjusting and [unclear text: setling [settling] ] with the Volunteers After Correcting Errors I asscertain [ascertain] $704. 56/100 Dollars to have been overdrawn which Should have been remitted ere this but for the want of Safe Conveyance -- Whilst in the service I Can safely say to you Compensation was not Anticipated therefore No Musterroll [Muster roll] was kept by me and on enquiring; by no other officers The duty I considered indispensable to the safety of the Country as did others frequently my [unclear text: County ] men attach'd [attached] and detach'd [detached] themselves as their Consideration of utility and defence [defense] was Call'd [Called] Therefore verry [very] liable to make Errors as to persons And length of time -- It has been reported to me a Nathaniel H Hicks some several weeks passed made a Communication to some of the department I suppose the Treasury impeaching

me with defrauding the treasury If such A Communication Any ways Analagous [Analogous] to a Charge of fraud has been received at your office I hope you will Consider what is in Justice due to every man who possesses honesty & remit me a copy of the same certified in order that slander may be punished
