I hope you will Excuse the liberty taking by sending this note.
The inclosed [enclosed] will plead my cause. There is only 14 Union [illegible text] in this Camdon County
I understand [added text: the ] [illegible text] intends to charge the Heads of department at Milledgeville with neglect to pay them their Just due I Hope sum [some] of the friends of the Union will publish a statement Reletive [Relative] to this its [it's] my opinion that Capt [Captain] R. Floyd Has not applied for their soldier pay If possible let them be paid before the
October Election otherwise wee [we] will luse [lose] this county

Aug. 13, 1837.
Dear Sir: Please copy the following note, and you will greatly oblige several of your subscribers.
INFORMATION WANTED.
What is the cause the Glynn and Camden Volunteers of this State, who were almost the first to offer their services and march into Florida at the commencement of the Seminole war, and remained at Fort King, under the command of Capt. [Captain] Richard Floyd, until discharged by Gen. Clinch, have not been paid before this time.
The late destructive gale has distressed many a brave fellow so much, that they think it no sin to ask for what the Government justly owes them.
P.S. Perhaps the Pay Master General of Georgia, at Milledgeville, will give his reason. There is fault somewhere -- if so, let it be placed on the right shoulders.
