- Letter dated August 20, 1836 from Thomas H. Key to William Schley, Governor of Georgia (1835-1837). Key requests money owed him for the hire of his wagon and team during the recent military campaign against the Indians in Florida, probably associated with the Second Seminole War, 1835-1842. Key sent a previous letter to Schley regarding this issue (see tcc585).

Dear Sir
I wrote you a short time past on the subject of geting [getting] pay for my waggon [wagon] & Team, for the Services rendered in the late Campaign against the Florida Indians; under the command of Major David Ross. of Georgia -- My Team and Mr Ambrose Powells Teams was engaged, and performed all the duties required, of which I can get certificates, and I wished your advice- and consequently wrote, but have not had the pleasure, of hearing [deleted text: of hearing ] from you -- Our Captain, David Graham, recd. [received] our pay for the men, but the man who paid him, said he was not the proper person to pay for the waggons [wagons] . Your Excellency will do me a kindness by directing me the proper course to pursue to receive my pay --
