To his Excellency Wm [William] Schley
Sir
A company of Volunteer Riflemen has been formed in this place and uniformed at some considerable expense and this day organized by electing their officers with a view to enter immediately into the service of their [added text: country ] against the Seminole Indians it would be extremely gratifying to their friends and and [and] the Citizens of this place generally if your Excellency would so far comply with the wishes of the company by forthwith ordering [added text: it ] [deleted text: them ] into service The company is not yet full but it is expected by the time orders can reach here that it will have something like fifty men; and it is their wish to take up their line of march Thursday next.
