- This document is a letter from Captain P.M. Fleming to William Schley, Governor of Georgia (1835-1837), dated February 11, 1836. Fleming transmits the resolution of his militia unit to volunteer themselves to march to Florida and fight against Indians there, probably associated with the Second Seminole War (1835-1842). He also requests arms for his growing troop.

Dr. [Dear] Sir,
Annexed you have two resolutions passed by the Liberty Independent Troop.
Resolved: That we offer our services (by tomorrows mail) to the Governor to March to any point in Florida which he may direct to act against the Indians.
Resolved: That inasmuch as there has been an increase in our numbers. The Governor be requested to send us twenty four braces of pistols & a like number of swords as they are needed for the equipment of the corps.
