Macon
February 1st 1836
To His Excellency Wm [William] Schley
Sir
Having a very large and commodious Steam Boat (the Tomochichi) that is regularly [unclear text: plying ] between Darien & Savannah. I would beg leave to call your attention to the obtaining of her for the transportation of the troops from Darien to the Floridies --
She is of great power and I am quite sure she will be able to take comfortably at a single load all the Troops together with their camp equipage Provisions &c [et cetera] which at present are ordered to embark from this place --
Should you determine on this manner of conveyance I would beg leave to refer you to the Agent Mr John T Rowland in Darien --
Respectfully Your
Obt Servt [Obedient Servant]
