Dr [Dear] Sir
Your favor of the 4h 4h Inst. [4th Instant] tendering to Me the appointment of renting the fractions for the Counties of Carroll and DeKalb in the Cherokee Territory, came to hand on Yesterday, and in reply, permit me to Say that I accept of the Same, and So soon as I can ascertain the number of Fractions, and to which county attached. I will procure forthwith to execute the trust your Excellency has been pleased to confide to my Charge. Will you be so good as to inform Me Whether it will be necessary for Me to attend in Milledgeville before the commencement of my duties, or whether I can ascertain from the Surveyor Generals Office, the Fractions to be rented, And I will immediately comply. For this continuation of your confidence, accept the
