Fort Hawkins
27th. Novr. [November] 1824.
Sir-
I have reached this place on my rout [route] to the treaty which is appointed to be held with the Creeks on the
first of Decr [December] . The late proceedings of the Chiefs, as published in the papers of this week at MilledgeVille, have just met my view. This pre-judgement of the negotiation will probably be adhered to with the same tenacity which was displayed by the Cherokees. To be enabled, the better to incounter [encounter] it, we should be glad to be furnished with your Communication to the President upon the subject of the correspondence with the Cherokees, and also with your late communication to the legislature. Papers in which these documents were published can no doubt be procured. Be pleased to have them directed to us at the Agency --
With best wishes for the restoration of your health, I am yr. obt. sevt. [your obedient servant]
[Signed] Duncan G. Campbell His Excellency G. [George] M. Troup} MilledgeVille}
